Brown Bag Lessons


Chief Jaren entered the Air Force in August 1982 and served at squadron, group, wing and numbered Air Force levels. His assignments included superintendent positions within the Maintenance Group, Operations Group and Mission Support Group, as well as additional duties in mobility operations, first sergeant, protocol and special projects. Before serving as the command chief of a major command, he served as the command chief for the Air Force Flight Test Center and 95th Air Base Wing at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.

Chief Jaren is a veteran of numerous contingencies including Operations Desert Shield/Storm/Calm, Restore Hope, Support Hope, twice for Enduring Freedom, twice for Iraqi Freedom and Peaceful Summit, and put “boots on the ground” in over 40 countries.

Chief Master Sergeant Eric R. Jaren, USAF, Retired 

CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT ERIC R. JAREN

(Retired from the United States Air Force effective Sept. 1, 2012)

Following his retirement from active duty, Mr. Eric R. Jaren began a successful civilian career with BTAS, Inc. as the business development principal. His work at BTAS from 2012-2014 was crucial to the development of the $5 Billion One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services (OASIS) multiple-award Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract win. He also developed and supported proposals worth $110 Million providing solutions for various Federal agencies, many of which are being executed by BTAS today.  

Mr. Jaren moved on to become the vice president for Operations and Strategic Development for another Dayton-area company from 2014-2016 where he led team of regional directors overseeing 135 employees during a period of 300% growth. 

Mr. Jaren returned to BTAS, Inc. as vice president for the Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) and Engineering Division. He applies strategic leadership to manage a portfolio in excess of $110 Million dollars and workforce of 350 people delivering contractual services throughout the country.


In his last assignment, Chief Master Sergeant Eric R. Jaren served as the Command Chief, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. As the command chief, he reported directly and was the adviser to the Commander (4-Star General) of the Air Force Materiel Command, on all matters affecting training, education, readiness, effective utilization of the command's 13,431 enlisted Airmen and their families assigned to 11 centers and 31 wings and wing-equivalent directorates spread across 67 geographically-separated locations. He also served on the USAF Enlisted Board of Directors and several other USAF corporate boards, evaluating policies impacting 267,000 personnel in the Air Force.
